NARU
The eye
behind the work.
Who
I'm Cristian, based in Malmö. I shoot film, photography and drone — mostly around Scandinavia, sometimes further out when a project calls for it.
NARU is what I named the practice. It's a Japanese word — naru, to become. It felt right because I don't think of the work as something finished. It's always changing.
I take the visual side seriously without taking myself too seriously. The goal is always work that feels honest — not just work that looks good.
How
01
Movement over stillness
Most of the best shots happen when you're already moving — not when you're waiting for the right conditions.
02
Weight over neutrality
A safe frame rarely says much. I try to make images that have some kind of point of view, even if that means getting it wrong sometimes.
03
The edit is the work
Shooting is only part of it. What the final cut looks like matters just as much — sometimes more.
On location
Show up.
Pay attention.
I don't overthink the setup. I get to the place, I stay longer than planned, and I wait to see what actually happens.
On editing
Less is almost
always better.
I cut a lot. The first version is always too long. What's left is usually the part that was worth making.
The work keeps moving.
So do I.
